Great breakfast deal. Food is very good. The servers could be better. It really depends on which server you get. If I were to judge this place only on the servers I probably would never go back. But the food makes up for it in the end.

I would give it 5 stars except for the building. It needs some attention. I understand the management does the best they can without shutting down, but that lovely girl is showing her age and really could use some sprucing up. Staff: Friendly and very willing to help assist with your order in any possible way. Food: I'm a breakfast person and they found everything I love and are able to put it on a plate. If you have never had the country fried steak with eggs, try it! I used to eat chicken fried steak with milk gravy down south, this is a close cousin. Again, ask the staff what the options are or if you wanted something in particular that isn't part of your meal description. If they have it, they will make it happen! The coffee is good in the one way I find best served; hot without any oil skim on top. I've found that oil skim even in fine dining areas of Chicago, but yet to get that from Hometown. So don't make a quick judgement call while driving down 41 and thinking it doesn't look all that great, look at the parking lot, it will always be almost full. That should tell you a lot! Food - Great! Staff - Great! Building - Needs some TLC. Hope this helps!

Great food and large serving sizes! The staff were very friendly. The hometown skillet was amazing! I was in town for work and needed a place to eat on a stormy day when work got canceled.
